Some of this note I posted 5 years ago, but as it is part of the historical record, it still holds true.
musings on 9-11 )

To steal a paragraph from a friend of mine 'I imagine most people will find me naive and irreverent. But, that's me. I want more good memories for September 11th. "Never forget," yes. But don't let it leave a bad taste in our collective mouths. I want to move on. I want to brush off the dust and say, "Ok. It's a beautiful day! Let's do some good today. Let's have some fun."'
I apologize for any nasty spam links you got.

Sad panda. :P
This morning on the radio, the guy who says the rapture is coming tomorrow said that it will start with an Earthquake that will make the Japan quake "look like a Sunday School Picnic", and I all I could think of was "Will it go to 11?"

I wonder what the Flying Sphaghetti Monster has to say about all this....
Well, there's been a lot in my head lately, and a lot that I feel I need to get out on paper, or at least on LJ. So I'm back!
Watch this space for lots of new posts.

Did I miss anything major in the past few years?

Jack McGeorge has passed away. I really don't have the words for what the community and my world has lost today.

He always had a smile for me when I saw him.

I'm going to go light a candle for a great great man.

Friends of mine are fostering a Greyhound through a Greyhound rescue organization, and he is not doing well at the moment. The Rescue organization is fitting the bill for his medical expenses, but they are a bit on the expensive side at this point, so they are asking for donations to help his expenses.

Boosting the signal because 1- he's a cute pup, 2- greyhound Rescue Orgs are important I would hate to see this one not be able to help this pup, and 3- friends help friends in times of need.

Really, the new job has been kickin my butt- lots of work hours, and then my off time I don't even really want to think about sitting in front of a computer!

I'm amazed that you guys got all of them!

Thanks for making my morning exciting!
So in case you missed the last game- I'll list 15 quotes from 15 different movies, and you have to guess. I'll strike out the ones that have been answered, acknowledging the person who answered and the movie.

1."I think this building should be condemned. There's serious metal fatigue in all the load-bearing members, the wiring is substandard, it's completely inadequate for our power needs, and the neighborhood is like a demilitarized zone." Ghostbusters [livejournal.com profile] queenortart

2. "As you can see, the pseudo-façade was stripped away to reveal a minimalist rococo design. Note the unusual inversed vaulted ceilings. This is yet another example of the late neoclassic Baroque period. And, as I always say, "if it's not Baroque, don't fix it!" Beauty and the Beast [livejournal.com profile] shorty36

3. "Hey, Mike, you think you can toss me my calculations? Thanks! Ah, here it is. "Breach Hull - All Die." Even had it underlined." MST3k: The Movie [livejournal.com profile] apapazukamori

4. "I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it." Star Wars [livejournal.com profile] shorty36

5. "You want me to take an "ethnic sensitivity" workshop or something?" Shaft [livejournal.com profile] asianhotness

6. "When your father was here, I used to think, "This was it. This is the way it was always going to be. I had the right house. I had the right car. I had the right life." Pleasantville [livejournal.com profile] asianhotness

7. "Only one man can kill this many Russians. Bring his guitar to me! " Six String Samurai [livejournal.com profile] thatliardiego

8. "I think it's high time we let the colonies know what we really think of them. I think its payback time for a little tea party they threw for us a few hundred years ago." V for Vendetta [livejournal.com profile] shorty36

9. "It just pissed me off. I couldn't just stand there and watch him shoot those people right in front of me. It was... rage. Pure rage... Just made me mad." Patriot Games [livejournal.com profile] nyghtowl

10. "Yours was the face I saw above my cradle. The only mother I've ever known. Wherever I am led and whatever I must do, I will always love you." The Ten Commandments [livejournal.com profile] prehensile_wit

11."Tell everyone that when the day is out we shall have a wedding. Or a hanging. Either way, we're gonna have a lot of fun, huh?" Robin Hood: Men in Tights [livejournal.com profile] shorty36

12. "Playing music is supposed to be fun. It's about heart, it's about feelings, moving people, and something beautiful, and it's not about notes on a page."Mr. Holland's Opus [livejournal.com profile] kaylaraine

13. "Max... I am not Han Solo. You are not Luke Skywalker. There's no Empire. There's no Force and there's no Dark Side!" Space Camp [livejournal.com profile] lance_lake

14. "Yeah, well Kansas is a mess, there's a big crease right through Wichita." Twister [livejournal.com profile] kaylaraine

15. "The hell I don't. LISTEN KID. I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes." Airplane! [livejournal.com profile] shorty36

- Mohawk Media issued the following press release today:

MR.T: A REAL BLACK SUPER HERO

With the outcome of the recent US elections, the time seems perfect for a real black super hero. British publisher Mohawk Media have answered this call with the worldwide launch of their graphic novel starring TV tough guy, Mr. T.

Author Christopher Bunting says: "Since the announcement of Barack Obama as President-elect, plans have apparently been fast-tracked for a black James Bond, a black Doctor Who, a black Captain America. But what's missing is a real black hero."

"Mr. T, star of this new graphic novel, is just the man for the job."

Bunting continues: "Don't think that we're simply jumping on the bandwagon. Mohawk Media released a Limited Advance Edition of the Mr. T graphic novel back in February 2008, and it was made clear that this worldwide edition was to follow."

The Mr. T graphic novel has already courted controversy, with its storylines concerning sex offenders, domestic abuse, and kidnap.

"One of the great things about Mr. T," explains Bunting, "is because he's real, we can tackle all kinds of topical and difficult real-world issues."

Mr. T, star of smash-hits The A-Team, Rocky, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – the upcoming movie based on the best selling book of the same name – attributes this factor to his successful transformation into a graphic novel star: "People can relate to Mr. T. They know what he stands for: T for tender, but if you're a bad guy, it's T for tough!"

"Get that message out: give people their own black heroes!" Mr. T has shown he believes what he says by providing world-exclusive interviews and a foreword for the Mr. T graphic novel, while also acting as Executive Editor. Mr. T continues: "I pity the fool who don't get my book, read it, and enjoy it!"

The Mr. T graphic novel can be ordered direct from publisher Mohawk Media at http://www.mohawkmedia.co.uk/store for the exclusive price of £6.95 (UK) / $15.95 (US) including delivery. Alternatively, visit your local comic book store.

The Mr. T graphic novel is distributed to the comic book trade through Diamond Comics Distributors. A major announcement is expected soon regarding book trade and online distribution for 2009. The book's ISBN is: 9780956018908.
