All I can say is wow. Letter of Marque seemed to be well received by the patrons at this years Save the Boobies feast, and we had a fabulous time. It was a great honor to be on the same stage with performers that we've looked up to and admired, and seeing people singing along, moving to our rhythms, and cheering us on. Being able to make people smile, that's really what its all about, and helping to raise money for Breast Cancer research. Thanks to everyone who cheered us on, for the people who have given us feedback before and after the performance and especially for the line of people who gave me hugs before and after our performance. I and the band really appreciate it. And a special thank you goes out to [livejournal.com profile] thatliardiego for the fabulous grilled cheese sammich I had after I calmed down from the adrenaline. It was tres fabulous.
It was kinda funny to me, at the end of the performance, when we walked off stage, and there was a line of friends waiting to give us big hugs and tell us we did well. It almost felt like the Olympics, only without the Russian judge giving us the low score.

This event has a pronounced effect on me, because I remember how I felt when my Godmother was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 90's and had her mastectomy. Cancer, affects a community, not just the person who gets it. For such a large community to rally together to help as much as they can, is always such an amazing thing to see, and even more amazing to be a part of. My family was fortunate- my Godmother has been cancer free for about 10 years now. I know other people aren't as fortunate, and I'm honored to have had a part to try to reduce the number of unfortunate ones.

Another interesting thing that happened was meeting someone who I have a connection with, even if its not one of those "good" connections. I know that sounds very vague. I'll write more later. Suffice to say- there is a pattern, and that's reassuring. It really wasn't just me.

After the event, I visited with friends who I didn't get to spend a lot of time with at the actual feast, then ended up coming home to a warm bed and my lovely kitties.

Thanks again to everyone who made this event wonderful!
